How to Connect VoIP Phone Service to a Home Phone System

Many people now prefer the convenience presented by a VoIP phone service. It provides a more affordable solution to your home communications needs especially when you are doing a lot of international calls.

One of the disadvantages of this type of service is power interruptions. If you connect it to computer, you cannot use it during power outages unless you have uninterrupted power source. However, if you have a home phone system at home, you can have another option during these cases.

Here is how you can connect your VoIP service to your existing phone system at home:

Step 1: You should first choose a reliable VoIP provider. Ask your internet provider if they offer this feature. If they do, ask for price quotes and find out if they offer packages-this should include the VoIP jack.

Step 2: If you already have a phone structure at home, you should first detach the jack of the telephone. Trace the wire box that connects to your phone line. Once you found the box, open it and then detach the phone wires you can see inside. Check if there is still a dial tone. If there is none, you can now proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Go to your main internet connection. Hook up the Ethernet cable from the DSL modem to the slot of the VoIP adapter.
